Prion and neurodegenerative diseases research
Neuro-Coop is a project co-funded by the European Union, through the Interreg V-A Spain-France-Andorra Programme (POCTEFA 2014-2020). The main objective of this project is to create a common space for knowledge and innovation, in order to make progress in research into neurodegenerative diseases.
POCTEFA Objectives 2021-2027
Priority 1:
Creating a common space for knowledge and innovation
It focuses on the development of research, innovation, the implementation of advanced technologies, the exploitation of the benefits of digitalisation and the strengthening of sustainable growth and the competitiveness of SMEs. It is an important priority for the development of the territory and has a budget of almost 51 million euros, i.e. 22.45% of the total programme budget (without Technical Assistance). This priority corresponds to Policy Objective 1.
Project actions
Action 1
Create a network between research institutions on both sides of the border, involving clinicians and patient associations, to disseminate information on innovation (diagnosis and therapy) and promote projects with patients: longitudinal studies with biological samples.
MARCH 2024 / SEPT 2026
Action 2
To analyse the clinical diversity of neurodegenerative diseases associated with misfolded proteins in order to assess strain variability, cross-seeding and risk of transmission.
MARCH 2024 / SEPT 2026
Action 3
Improving early detection and diagnosis of protein-mediated diseases, including prion and prion-like diseases through the development and validation of new methods to detect misfolded proteins and the search for biomarkers in biological fluids.
